Andrew Warren, Antionette Davis, Dr. Sheila Simmons Tribble, Mariella Smith, and the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg for their tremendous contributions to the Greater Tampa Bay community!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

May 14, 2025 (Tampa, Florida)<\/strong> \u2013 Each year, since 1970, Community Tampa Bay has recognized community leaders and advocates, who have exhibited exceptional efforts to champion diversity and advance inclusion in schools, workplaces, and the Tampa Bay community with its prestigious Silver Medallion Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, four honorees will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14th, 11:30am-1:30pm at Tampa River Center in front of 150 event guests. The annual event, Transformations, allows each attendee to experience the transformative power of Community Tampa Bay\u2019s work and recognize community commitment to eradicating all forms of discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s honorees include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew Warren <\/strong>is a former State Attorney for Hillsborough County having been elected as the County\u2019s top prosecutor in 2016 and 2020. As State Attorney, Warren led an office of 130 prosecutors and 300 staff with a strategic vision to maximize public safety, fight for victims, and promote justice and fairness. He\u2019s led conversations in regards to making voting more equitable for communities of color and people living in poverty; he launched a Racial Justice Work Group in 2020 to explore systemic issues and disparities. Warren not only remains committed to having conversations, but uses community based data to drive the policies he advocates for. Throughout his career and personal life, he has passionately led through an anti-discrimination lens and his actions speak louder than words. In August 2022, Warren was suspended by Governor Ron DeSantis for speaking out against laws criminalizing abortion and discriminating against transgender Americans. Through it all, Warren has stood his ground for what he believes in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Antionette Davis and Dr. Sheila Simmons Tribble<\/strong> are pioneers in treating racism as a public health crisis in Hillsborough County. Their long-standing commitment to have racism recognized as a public health crisis was fulfilled in September 2020 when the Hillsborough County Commission made an official declaration. In response to this declaration, Mrs. Antionette Davis has been actively working to address these disparities through her leadership at EnVision Resolution. The organization\u2019s mission focuses on creating a Hillsborough County where race does not determine health outcomes, aiming for all residents to achieve their highest health potential. EnVision Resolution\u2019s initiatives include increasing healthcare access in underserved communities, such as bringing healthcare services to local barbershops, promoting health equity and improving overall community well-being. The duo\u2019s combined community-based efforts to fight racism reflect a commitment to Tampa and Hillsborough County to recognize and address the impact of racism on public health, striving towards equitable health outcomes for all residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Mariella Smith <\/strong>is a former Hillsborough County Commissioner with a long history of advocating for all the county\u2019s residents. A fourth-generation Tampa native with Cuban heritage, Smith has worked to make local government more transparent and accessible to all citizens. Over the course of her career, she has advocated for the environment and worked to ensure everyone can safely enjoy our parks, lands, and waterways. She is known for giving county residents more input into decisions that affect their communities, and she has worked to promote diversity, equity & inclusion throughout Hillsborough County in many ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg<\/strong> is an organization that ensures all residents have access to the resources and support they need to live healthy lives, specifically as it relates to racial equity. As pillars in the St. Petersburg community, they partner with numerous local organizations who are on the forefront of providing equitable services and responding to the needs of the residents. In addition to their commitment to meaningful partnerships, they show up financially and physically; celebrating successes and providing an extra hand during their challenges. The Center for Healthy Equity is a respite and haven for safe exploration of difficult topics and a place for joy and celebration of culture and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are inspired by all of the work this year\u2019s Silver Medallion Award recipients have done for our community.
