Liz is a teacher and spoken word poet, a dynamic performer and progressive-minded writer who uses poetry to promote literacy and self-expression.  She is the 2013 winner of the Women of the World Video Slam contest. She is also the Education Director of the Heard Em Say Youth Arts Collective and the Poetry Club mentor to Dixie Hollins High School where she facilitates biweekly workshops for students, an annual expo performance series, and an annual inner-school slam. She has taught writing as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, as well as at Virginia Tech, the University of Tampa, and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.  She earned her Masters in English from Virginia Tech and her Bachelors in Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida.  Liz has been an ANYTOWN volunteer since 2013 and has recently broadened her role to include facilitation of Community Tampa Bay workplace and other training. In addition to her passions for writing, speaking, and feminism, she has an insatiable hankering for frozen yogurt, and has likely been to every self-serve froyo shop in a 30 mile radius of her home in Tampa.
