Principals’
Multicultural Advisory Committees Program (PMAC)
Partnership
The Principals’ Multicultural Advisory Committees Program
(PMAC) is an innovative partnership with Pinellas County Schools
and is one of the largest school-based multicultural awareness programs
in the country. The program reaches all grade levels of the school
system, from elementary to high school.
All Pinellas Schools have a multicultural committee (PMAC) which
acts as an advisory group to the principal. Having an active Principal’s
Multicultural Advisory Committee Program in place is more than just
a great idea or another club. In Pinellas County Schools it is a
School Board mandate which recognizes and affirms the value of diversity
in the school system. The PMAC program is charged with ensuring
that all students have a right to attend a school where all ethnic
and cultural heritages are welcomed and respected.
Community Tampa Bay provides members of the multicultural committees
with the skills, information and training they need to create and
implement various multicultural programs and activities throughout
the school year. We assist in the development of leadership and
facilitation skills to enhance the school climate, and work to help
schools strive for Level IV of the four levels of multicultural
education.
