Facilitating the Leadership of Youth

Community Tampa Bay has teamed with The Rays Baseball Foundation to help cultivate the power of youth.
F.L.Y. , ‘Facilitating the Leadership of Youth’s goal is to create safe places for youth to discuss issues that are important to them and our community by planning and implementing Youth Summits and is an excellent opportunity to build your leadership, facilitation, dialogue and advocacy skills. Each Youth Summit is planned, implemented, led and evaluated by FLY members with guidance and support from Community Tampa Bay staff and volunteers as well as Rays Baseball professionals. Previous Youth Summits have addressed: stereotypes, racism and how the media portrays youth.
“When we broke into the small groups, it was cool. I got to actually examine what people think of me based on my 10% or my outside.”
The group meets weekly at Tropicana Field to plan the summits and build teamwork and leadership within
the community. Participants will facilitate dialogue, create presentations and learn to have effective
outreach in their schools and communities.
As a member of FLY you will:
- Create a safe place for dialogue FOR YOUTH BY YOUTH
- Develop your leadership skills
- Promote positive changes for everyone in Pinellas County
- Meet new people and have fun making a difference
