Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families – including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson – we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and Reverend Jimmy Creech, For the Bible Tells Me So offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

- Thursday, April 26, 8 p.m., Town Hall meeting on race, gender and class in the media: Following the Don Imus scandal, the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists and the Department of Journalism at the University of South Florida scheduled a town hall meeting to discuss the issue. Executive Director, Birgit Van Hout, participated as a panelist in a heated debate moderated by St. Pete Times reporter Eric Deggans.
- April 4 & 5, 2007: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Taking Rev. Martin Luther King’s words to heart, Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services and Community Tampa Bay partnered with USF and Eckerd college to bring the award-winning documentary Lost Boys of Sudan to Tampa Bay. - March 21, 5:30 – 8:30 at Eckerd College: Community Tampa Bay partnered with 10 local organizations to honor the 69 victims of the Sharpeville massacre who were killed by South African police on March 21, 1960, during a peaceful protest against the discriminatory apartheid pass laws. Over 200 concerned citizens and community leaders met in St. Petersburg to examine manifestations of racism in our own community and take a personal pledge against racism. As St. Pete Times reporter Ernest Hooper wrote: “It is difficult to look in the mirror and question your own biases…People have a need to discuss these issues…in a community where hate groups still thrive and bigotry can be heard on any random radio talk show.” Racial discrimination negates the contribution of whole parts of society. community in St. Petersburg - the challenges, dreams and richness
of the neighborhood - through the eyes of students. The exhibit

- July 29, 2006, 7:00 pm: The Studio@620 presents "Dare Not Walk Alone", a documentary
film bridging the gap between the civil rights generation and
the hip-hop generation. In an age where most Americans believe
that issues of race and equality are a thing of the past, documentary
film maker Jeremy Dean's "Dare Not Walk Alone" reminds
us that the "War of Responsibility" for poverty, education
and justice, is still ours to win. The film will be shown at
