Don Lemon – The Power of Diversity

CNN Anchor Don Lemon  was the keynote speaker at the 2011 Griot Drum Awards & Scholarship Banquet presented by the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists.  The event was hosted by Nielsen at their beautiful headquarters in Oldsmar and sponsored by Wells Fargo and other local organizations who believe in the message of inclusion.

Mr. Lemon spoke about his humble beginnings as a young African American boy growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisana.  He discussed his struggle for access and equity at his first institution of higher learning and later life as a  news assistant for WNYW in New York City, making light of the fact that it took him nine years to graduate with a degree in broadcast journalism.
