Our Mission

The mission of Community Tampa Bay, formerly known as NCCJ, is to promote dialogue and respect among all cultures, religions and races. A not-for-profit human relations organization based in St. Petersburg, Florida, we work with individuals, groups and organizations to create an inclusive society strengthened and empowered by its diversity.

As long as there is bias and bigotry, fed by stereotypes and prejudice, there is work to be done. By influencing attitudes and behaviors through our initiatives in the areas of education, advocacy and conflict mediation, we lead efforts to increase communication and understanding among persons of diverse backgrounds. We openly address ignorance, fear and hatred by providing safe-havens for meaningful dialogue.

Yes, we try to change the world – one person at a time. We promote a community of socially responsible and caring citizens by empowering individuals to become genuine agents of change in their environment.

Our Vision

As a nonpartisan human relations organization, we work to create a more just society. We strive for a community free from all forms of discrimination, in which every person is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, faith, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age and physical or mental ability. Whatever one’s political, religious or other convictions, discrimination and intolerance are always wrong.

We instill in our program participants a sense of moral integrity and responsibility and hold ourselves to the same standard in our operations as well as in the implementation of our programs.

We stand for justice as the fair treatment without discrimination of any individual or group. When we talk about justice we do not limit ourselves to the administration of justice by courts and tribunals, but we also mean social justice and human rights for all.

Respect for diversity
We believe that an open mind and respect for diversity are essential for the continued progress of the Tampa Bay area and for the quality of life of all its inhabitants. Be it in our work or in our personal lives, we are committed to living by the values we promote!
