Founded in 1949, the Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Conference
for Community and Justice (NCCJ) used to be part of a national organization.
In 2005, an important decentralization took place. Today, although
there are over 30 sister organizations around the country, sharing
the same mission, vision and often programs, we all operate as legally
independent organizations. This development grants us greater autonomy
and control over our funds and resources.
Q. Why and when did the NCCJ change its name?
We changed our name in December 2006 to better reflect our regional
scope of activities and our ties to the community. Our mission,
however – to rid our community from all forms of discrimination
