Community Tampa Bay is fortunate to claim extraordinary individuals
and community leaders as Special Advisors. In this capacity, they
provide advice to the organization whenever the need for specialized
counsel arises.
Dr. H Roy Kaplan
Currently
a Visiting Associate Professor in the Africana Studies Department
of the University of South Florida, Dr. H. Roy Kaplan was Executive
Director of the National Conference for Community and Justice Tampa
Bay Region from 1989 until his retirement in September 2004.

Frank Sanchez
Frank
Sanchez is a partner with CM Partners (CMP), where he works with
corporations and governments worldwide managing complex transactions,
labor-management negotiations, litigation settlement, facilitation
and training.

Farrukh Quraishi
Iranian
born and London raised, Farrukh Quraishi is a celebrated retired
professional soccer player and veteran public relations executive.

Sandra Warshaw Freedman
Sandy
Freedman became Tampa's first woman Mayor in 1986. A life-long advocate
for inclusion, she started the Women and Minority Business Enterprise
program and organized Tampa's first march against hate crimes.

Barbara
Casasa-Cohen
Barbara is a clinical psychologist with
a private practice in Tampa, Florida. As a parent, and
professionally through her work with children, families
and school systems, she appreciates the importance of
early interventions. Barbara promotes the work of organizations
like Community Tampa Bay, which seek to combat prejudice,
bigotry and racism by educating our youth.
William
Heller
William is Professor of Special Education in the
College of Education at the University of South Florida,
St. Petersburg. He holds a BS degree in Education, a MS
degree in Counseling, and an Ed.D. in Special Education
and School Psychology. William (Bill) Heller was Superintendent
of Alabama's largest mental hospital and worked with the
former U.S. Office of Education in Washington, DC. He
has lived in St. Petersburg since 1992 and joined the
Community Tampa Bay (NCCJ) Board in 2002. He is also the
President of the St. Petersburg branch of the Community
Foundation. His special concern for the differently abled
motivates him to pursue equality and inclusion for all
citizens without distinction.
Tanner Sobelman
A native of Tampa, Tanner and her husband David recently moved back to the area from Washington, DC, where she worked as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Clay Shaw. Tanner and David are co-founders of the Wellspring Foundation, which is committed to providing an outlet for children to experience new cultures, religions, races and nationalities.
